Often you come up with a beat that you think is the coolest thing that ever happened but when played with a group of other musicians, it doesn't quite sit right. So you mold your idea to fit with what everyone else is feeling but in doing that you lose a little piece of what you created by your lonesome in front of the kit.

What is to happen to this original beat that through collaboration became something totally different?

Enter: The Beat Meet Project

The Beat Meet Project consists of video/audio posts of drumbreaks donated to the internet community as public property. These drumbreaks are to be used by the borrower and when finished the final product is posted on the site to see what a stranger, a friend, a whatever could do with that little pure individual idea- the beat. These beats can be used for any music, any film, any artistic endeavor in perpetuity.

There are 3 Simple Rules of The Beat Meet:

1. A link to the the finished product and details on beat used should be sent to TheBeatMeetProject@gmail.com. Vimeo/Tumblr posts are good ways to post information easily.

2. Beats can not be used for commercial use without consulting the beatmaker.

3. If the beat is featured anywhere then the beatmakers credit must be provided.

As much information as possible (BPM, Mono/stereo, etc.) should be included with beats submitted for use. Of course, any stories about how the beat came to be are more than appreciated as well .

So let's start this experiment! All questions/submissions/comments can be sent to TheBeatMeetProject@gmail.com.

Good luck, thank you and let's see what you got.

Story: There are a lot of different part of this whole beat and it builds like stacking blocks. I think each different section could be sampled and rearranged to make something different. Better? Maybe.

Story: This beat always seemed a little too busy for business.  That multiple cross-stick thing can also sound really whack if not done consistently.
